General Background and Objectives:
A civil engineering consulting firm would be regarded
as complete and self contained. if it houses a full fledged testing facility
on its own. Experience has indicated that for the successful execution
of any project generation of design data shall be obtained by the same
organization responsible for design and construction supervision. This
fact had been realized by MULTI Disciplinary Consultants (P) Ltd. since
long. Therefore, a geotechnical testing facility was planned and established.
The geotechnical laboratory has been registered under the name of MULTI
Lab (P) Ltd. as a sister concern of MULTI Disciplinary Consultants (P)
Ltd. MULTI Disciplinary Consultants (P) Ltd holds 51% of the total shares
of MULTI Lab (P) Ltd. and the remaining shares has been distributed to
interested and highly dedicated professionals. The laboratory has started
its operation with effect from January, 1995.
The main aim of the company is to provide
quality services pertaining to:
The investigations and testing works related
to soils, rocks, concrete, cement, aggregates, steel, gabion wires, galvanized
coatings, bitumen and other construction materials. The analysis, design
and construction management of geotechnical components of embankments,
cut slopes, earth and rock fill dams, tunnels, deep excavations, bracing
systems, earth retaining structures, buried pipe lines, site development,
slope monitoring and stabilisation.
The testing and certification of the construction materials and other
manufactured industrial products adhering to the confirmation with the
relevant specifications and codes. Training in soil and material investigations
and testing.
These objectives are expected to be achieved in two stages. In the first
stage of its development the laboratory would carry out routine investigations
and testings works related to all geotechnical aspects of civil engineering.
In the second stage the laboratory facilities would further be extended
to a level where it would be able to conduct research works related to
solving more complex problems as well as provide test certification of
construction materials and other manufactured industrial products.
